What the Centre exists to do

Our objectives are fixed in the Centre's constitution and reviewed annually by the Advisory Committee.

    Document tangible and intangible cultural heritage across all seven provinces using standardised, archive-grade methods.

    Publish independent, peer-reviewed research on culture, heritage conservation and tourism economics.

    Strengthen community capacity to manage, interpret and benefit from local heritage assets.

    Advise policy makers on heritage-sensitive tourism planning and destination management.

    Support traditional artisans and knowledge holders through documentation, market linkage and apprenticeship.

    Maintain a permanent public archive of photographs, oral histories, maps and field records.

A Nepal where cultural heritage is fully documented, actively safeguarded, and shared as a source of dignity and sustainable livelihood for the communities that hold it.

Mission

To research, document and promote Nepal's tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and to translate that evidence into responsible tourism practice through partnership with communities, government and academia.
